On the occasion of Guru Purnima 2026, Mahindra Technical Academy (MTA) honours Professor Anindya Deb with the Udyoga\u2013Vidya Setu Samman for his outstanding contributions to learning, innovation, engineering education, industry\u2013academia collaboration and nation building.<\/p>\n

Through scholarly excellence, inspiring teaching, and dedicated mentorship, Professor Deb has advanced engineering capability and fostered a culture of continuous learning among the engineers of Mahindra Research Valley (MRV). This recognition celebrates an enduring commitment to innovation, knowledge sharing, and strengthening academia\u2013industry partnerships, inspiring technical excellence and contributing meaningfully to engineering education and nation-building.<\/p>\n

Dr. Anindya Deb is currently a Professor at the Department of Design and Manufacturing, Indian Institute of Science (IISc), Bangalore, and is also a former Chairman of the department. Prior to joining IISc, he worked with Ford Motor Company, Dearborn, Michigan (USA), SDRC (Structural Dynamics Research Corporation), Milford, Ohio (USA), and briefly as a GET (Graduate Engineer Trainee) with Tata Motors, Jamshedpur (India). He obtained his PhD from The State University of New York at Buffalo, USA, and ME from the Memorial University of Newfoundland, St. John\u2019s, Canada.<\/p>\n

Dr. Deb\u2019s research interests include diverse areas such as impact safety engineering using advanced simulation and testing, vehicle crash safety design, lightweight electric vehicle design and prototyping, lightweight materials for engineering applications, CAE (Computer-Aided Engineering) in product design, AI-ML techniques for automotive design, and human body finite element modelling for crash injury prediction as well as design of medical and dental implants. He has supervised more than 50 PhD, MTech and MDes students in IISc, completed a number of government and industry-funded research projects as a Principal Investigator, and has authored 200-plus publications mainly in international journals and conferences. He has obtained five automotive-related patents including three US, one European and one Indian patent, and an Indian design registration on a lightweight aluminium-intensive electric car. He is an Associate Editor of SAE International Journal of Materials and Manufacturing, a founding Co-Eidtor of International Journal of Vehicle Structures and Systems, in the Advisory Board of ARAI Journal of Mobility Technology, and in the editorial boards of International Journal of Crashworthiness, and International Journal of Vehicle Safety. He is a Fellow of the INAE (Indian National Academy of Engineering) and is an SAE Fellow.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>
