Distinguished Lecture by Anil Kakodkar

India`s manufacturing sector envisages a potential of around US $ one trillion by the year 2025, accounting for around 25 to 30 percent of national GDP. Thrust to Make in India campaign is thus very important. In addition to setting up appro – priate manufacturing infrastructure and training of human resource with rele – vant skills, it would be necessary to link up the manufacturing activities with ap – propriate knowledge and research domains within the country. This would enable a deeper assimilation of technologies and build the capability to keep the technology rejuvenated as well as innovate further and remain competitive. The lecture would discuss some of the related issues and actions.
