Role Overview
We are looking for a passionate and skilled In-house Technical lead to join the Centre for Excellence in Design (D-CoE). This role is central to delivering impactful and dynamic training sessions for a prestigious, long-term program initiated by the Government of Karnataka. The In-house Tech lead will be responsible for creating and delivering high-quality training content, guiding participants through various design disciplines, and collaborating with faculty and stakeholders to ensure the program’s success.
This is a unique opportunity to contribute to advancing design excellence in the region while mentoring and shaping the next generation of design professionals.
The Technical Lead at the Centre of Excellence in Design (D-CoE), IISc, is more than an instructor.
The role encompasses that of an educator, mentor, facilitator, innovation catalyst, and project leader. The Technical Lead plays a critical role in delivering industry-relevant, future-focused education grounded in Industry 4.0 principles, design thinking methodologies, and hands-on experiential learning.
Beyond training delivery, the position carries strategic responsibility for project planning, execution oversight, stakeholder coordination, and programme management. The incumbent will ensure that training initiatives, prototyping assignments, and innovation programmes are executed efficiently—
on time, within scope, and in alignment with institutional objectives and industry standards.
Educational Qualifications & Experience
Essential Qualifications
• Master’s degree in Design, Engineering, Technology, Product Design, Industrial Design, Manufacturing, Innovation, or allied disciplines
• Strong grounding in Design Thinking methodology, user-centered design, and problem- solving frameworks
• Demonstrated understanding of Industry 4.0 concepts, including:
o Digital manufacturing
o Prototyping and fabrication technologies
o IoT, automation, smart systems, or cyber-physical systems
o Data-driven design and innovation workflows
Desirable Experience
• Prior experience in academic training, industry training, innovation labs, incubators, or Centres of Excellence
• Exposure to startup ecosystems, product development cycles, or applied research environments

Key Responsibilities
1. Training Delivery & Learning Facilitation
• Deliver structured, outcome-oriented training aligned with D-CoE program objectives
• Design and conduct hands-on workshops, demonstrations, and prototyping sessions
• Develop module-wise assessments, projects, and evaluation frameworks
• Introduce innovative assessment methods (peer reviews, gamification, reflective learning)

• Prepare periodic project reports, dashboards, and performance metrics for internal review and government reporting
• Ensure documentation of all technical activities, training modules, and outcomes
• Oversee resource allocation, lab scheduling, and infrastructure utilization

• Liaise with startups and founders for mentoring, prototyping, and innovation support

The Talent & People Operations Manager is responsible for managing Centre-level people operations at the Centre of Excellence in Design (D-CoE). The role supports the recruitment, onboarding, engagement, retention, and well-being of interns and contractual staff, and ensures structured handling of people-related matters, including grievance redressal and dispute resolution.
This role functions in coordination with the Human Resources office, while independently managing day-to-day people operations specific to the Centre, ensuring continuity of programmes and a healthy working environment.

3. Key Responsibilities
3.1 Talent Acquisition & Workforce Planning

Job Title: Additive Manufacturing Intern
Department: Polymer Additive Manufacturing – Centre of Excellence in Design (D-CoE)
Location: IISc / Polymer AM Lab
Duration: 3/6 months

About the Role:
We are seeking a motivated intern to support day-to-day operations of the polymer additive manufacturing facility on advanced 3D Printing technologies, including, FDM, MSLA and MJP systems. The intern will work closely with the facility team to manage equipment, materials, and process workflows, ensuring smooth execution of printing tasks and proper maintenance of the lab. This role is ideal for candidates who are detail-oriented and interested in learning the practical aspects of running a high-tech 3D printing lab.
Key Responsibilities:
• Assist in 3D printer operations, including machine setup, Pre-processing (Slicing), print monitoring, and post-processing.

About the Role
We are seeking a highly motivated and enthusiastic Electronics Intern to join our Centre of Excellence in Design. This is an excellent opportunity for an aspiring engineer to gain hands-on experience in a fast-paced, innovative environment. The intern will play a crucial role in supporting various projects, working with modern electronics platforms, and contributing to the team’s overall success.
Key Responsibilities
As an Electronics Intern, your responsibilities will include:
1. Project Contribution: Actively work on multiple electronics projects and projects within the Centre of Excellence in Design, contributing to their development and implementation.
2. Hardware & Software Interaction: Engage with popular microcontrollers and development boards such as Raspberry Pi and Arduino, along with various sensors and communication protocols.
3. Documentation Support: Assist in the creation of presentations and slide decks for project updates, technical reviews, and knowledge sharing.
4. Reporting: Prepare comprehensive project reports, documenting progress, findings, and technical details.
5. Team Engagement: Participate enthusiastically in D-CoE team activities and events, fostering a strong team spirit and collaborative culture.
Required Qualifications and Skills
To be successful in this role, you should possess:
• Education: Currently pursuing a Bachelor’s degree in Electronics and Communications Engineering, with a minimum of two years of coursework
completed.
• Technical Fundamentals: Basic knowledge of microcontrollers, fundamental coding concepts, and various types of sensors.
• Hands-on Experience (Preferred): Prior experience working with Arduino and Raspberry Pi platforms is highly preferred.
• Programming Skills (Preferred): Knowledge of coding in C and Python is preferred.
• Communication & Learning: Excellent communication skills, a strong eagerness to learn, and a proactive attitude to contribute effectively to the team.
• Work Ethic: Ability to work independently as well as collaboratively in a team, demonstrating kindness, respect, and a commitment to meeting deadlines, even under pressure.
Duration : 2 months
Stipend : 10,000/- Per month

A) Job Summary: We are seeking a creative and motivated Design Intern to join our dynamic design team at the Centre for Excellence in Design, a prestigious initiative supported by the Government of Karnataka (GoK). This role provides hands-on experience in a fast-paced, collaborative environment, perfect for individuals who are passionate about design, eager to learn, and excited to support the goals of the Centre for Excellence in Design.
B) Key Responsibilities:
• Assist in the creation of visual assets for digital and print projects, including brand collateral designs (e.g., website elements, marketing materials).
• Help design and layout web pages and email campaigns.
• Excellent communication skills and the ability to interact professionally with diverse stakeholders.
• Participate in design reviews, offering feedback and suggestions.
• Contribute to other design-related projects as assigned.
C) Qualifications:

Job Title: AV Technical Support Specialist
Job Summary:
We are seeking a skilled AV Technical Support Specialist to handle audio-video equipment, provide technical support for live and recorded broadcasts, maintain our digital presence, and support virtual classroom environments. The ideal candidate will have experience in AV systems setup, streaming, website maintenance, and troubleshooting issues related to media production and online learning platforms.
Key Responsibilities:
Audio & Video Equipment Handling:
• Set up and operate audio and video recording equipment for events and productions.
• Manage sound mixing, microphone placement, and video resolutions.
• Ensure proper calibration and maintenance of AV systems.
• Maintain an inventory of AV equipment and suggest upgrades as needed.
Technical Support & Broadcasting:
• Provide technical support for live and recorded broadcasting.
• Configure streaming platforms, encoding software, and multi-camera setups.
• Troubleshoot audio-video sync issues and other live production problems.
• Assist in post-production editing when required.
General IT & Technical Assistance:
• Support troubleshooting of IT and networking issues for AV-related tasks.
• Assist in integrating new technologies to enhance digital communication.
• Provide training and documentation for staff on technical workflows.
Website Maintenance:
• Update website content, including event media, announcements, and resource links.
• Coordinate with the design and communications team to ensure website alignment with branding and technical accuracy.

Virtual Classroom Support:

Minimum Eligibility Criteria:
Experience : 0-4 years
• Bachelor’s degree in Media Technology, Communications, IT, or a related field.
• Proven experience with audio mixers, video switchers, and broadcasting tools.
• Familiarity with streaming platforms (YouTube Live, OBS, vMix, etc.).
• Experience with content management systems HTML/CSS,reactjs/react typescript and python.
• Strong troubleshooting skills in AV, IT, and web-related issues.
• Video editing and sound engineering knowledge.
• Experience supporting online learning environments and virtual events.
• Certification in AV technology, IT support, or web administration is an advantage.
Salary:
Consolidated salary offered will be commensurate with qualifications and experience, ranging from INR 30,000/- to INR 80,000/- per month. Final salary determination will be based on the candidate’s performance during interviews, their relevant experience, and other pertinent factors, ensuring competitive compensation aligned with qualifications and achievements.
A) General Conditions:
1.Duration:
The positions are on contract and will be temporary for a period of ONE year and renewed annually for a maximum period of 5 years, based on satisfactory performance and at the discretion of the authorities of the Institute.
2.Selection Method:
Interview for short listed candidates will be held Online or at Indian Institute of Science Campus, Bangalore, which will be notified.
3.Applicants who possess the minimum educational qualification as on the date of advertisement only need to apply.
4.Candidates would be expected to work on any of the three shifts including night shifts and holidays, except for the female candidates. The candidate will be required to work six days a week. Monday to Friday will be on-site working days, while Saturdays will be remote.
5.No accommodation will be available on the Institute campus.
